Term 4 News
Hi to everyone,
well we are already two weeks into term four and we have been very busy. We have enjoyed Agricultural Day and yesterday our technology learning started with much enthusiasm. The whole of the syndicate really enjoyed designing and creating a bird feeder that met with certain specifications. We all met on the tennis courts for judging. Well done to the groups that won for their class. We are all looking forward to next weeks challenge. Photos to follow...........

Name the Dog
Please write your name ideas here. Don't forget to add your name.
OK everyone. The orphan dog is 'thrilled to bits' with all of your suggestions but is very indecisive. Do you know what that means? It means she can't decide which one to choose. She would like us to have a vote in class so this is your last chance to recommend a name. The winner will receive a small prize. Good luck.

Homework
Dear Parents,
we are presently inquiring into different countries and it would be very helpful if students could find out some information at home. We only have 5 class computers and today they were very slow. The children all know which country they are researching. Information required includes population, what they wear, how many competitors were at the olympics, national dish and any other interesting facts or information. Thank you so much for your help. Mrs M.

Nathan Twaddle
How lucky were we to have an Olympian visit us? We have been writing about being an Olympic athlete and wondering just how it must feel to compete and actually win a medal for your country. Nathan was able to report that it felt amazing when he won a medal and that it was many years of hard work and determination that got him there. All middle syndicate students had many fantastic questions for Nathan. Nathan left us with a friendly reminder that if you have dreams about being an Olympian, always keep your goals in sight and never give up. We are fortunate to be Goodwood Explorers!
Our Inquiry Continues........
After a great inquiry conversation Ruma Tui students have decided that if we are to understand other countries and cultures we need to learn more about them. Every student chose a country to focus on which includes, Japan, Australia, Great Britain, United States of America, France, Greece, Spain and Germany. Follow us on our exciting journey of discovery.

Olympics All The Way
Well it has certainly been Olympic mania in Ruma Tui for the last 2 weeks. Our inquiry has been based on:
How does the Olympics reach out to countries?
How does the Olympics bring cultures together and celebrate diversity?
Take a look at our inquiry flow chart which shows details of our journey so far. We would love for you to check back to join our inquiry journey. (Click on the flow chart to magnify). Ka kite anō koutou.
Check out the 5 continents that the Olympic rings represent.

Websites for Homework
Hi to all of our fantastic Ruma Tui parents. I have added ixl.com into the Homework area. This website is proving to be a goodie. There maybe a nominal fee to join IXL but I feel the activities provided are worth it. The children will be able to tell you that we are working on fractions and have also just started looking at money with Mrs Hyde on Wednesdays.
Money is section P.1-P.17
Fractions is section U.1-U.7
This is by no means a must, just an option for those who may want to join. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Ka kite anō au i a koutou.

Disco Times
On Thursday 28th June it was the disco. There was music, food and decorations. The theme was Prince and Princesses. I danced with Summer. There were competitions for best dressed and best dancer. The best dressed was Cyprus and the best dancer was Kaitlyn. They got a prize but I don't know what it was. Then the disco finished and it was time to go home but I didn't want to go home because the disco was fun and it's once a year. By Paige.
Last night we had a disco at the Fencourt Hall. There were light and lasers on the ceiling and also balloons. The theme was Princess and Prince. We also got food there, the food was pizza, chocolate and chips, the drinks were juice and water. Jade and I danced with the teacher. I ate some chocolate and pizza, I also had some juice. At the end of the disco we gave out prizes for the best dressed and the best dancer. Then everyone left the disco. By Grier.
At the disco there were flashing lights, music and lots of people. We also had pizza and chips. I danced with Arianna and Emelia then we saw Mrs Marsh and danced with her. I was wearing a huge, magnificent skirt with dazzling shiny blue sparkling circles. There was lots and lots of noise. People got prizes for the best dancer and best dressed. By Rosie
Last night I dressed really smart for the disco. I had lots of chocolate because I had money to buy it and some drinks. When it was time to dance Ben and I did this cool dance move called the Leg Twister. We then had some more chocolate and drinks and danced to two more songs. When it was the end of course I wet home, ate my dinner then I bathed and played with my brother and went to bed. By Liam

Wacky Times
What an incredibly wacky time we had on Friday. All students were unrecognisable as they walked in with hair a rainbow of colours, shapes and patterns. Also many students could hardly contain their excitement when the chopper came to visit with a very important visitor.
