More Multiplication

We have been really busy again. Everyone in Tui is now learning that multiplication is also known as groups of and lots of. Also we are learning that although 3 X 5 equals the same as 5 X 3 it looks different. We have shown our understanding using playdoh and pretending it is fishes in a pond or cakes on a plate.

Maths in Tui

We have been busy learning multiplication using arrays, equally sharing fish between ponds and working out the multiplication sum. It has been great learning and we are really starting to understand the relationship between skip counting, repeated addition and multiplication. We will soon be ready to start division.

Check out our cool learning websites.

Dear Parents, Ruma Tui are now signed up to ixl.com. This is a maths website that seems to function well as you can choose ability and subject matter. Presently we are on a free trial and it becomes payable after a few weeks. I would be grateful if you could encourage your child to practise at home but only if you are able. We do allow class time but it would be great to use as much as possible throughout this free period. Each child has a username and password, these are written in their homework books. As their teacher I receive emails about their progress and how much each student has been using the site. Check out the headings on the side of the page. Click on them and start learning. The youtube clips appear at the top of the blog so you need to scroll back up. Thank you and have fun!
